All Makanda Township residents are encouraged to attend; registered voters are ELECTORS of the Township and are expected to vote on the annual business of the Township.
Check your voter registration and Township residency using the State of Illinois Registration Lookup page. You are a Makanda Township resident if you live within the boundary on the Makanda Township Map, but your name and address must appear on the voter rolls at least a month prior to the meeting in order to vote at the Annual Town Meeting - so please register to vote and make sure your address is correct!
Please arrive beginning 6:30 PM to check in and obtain a voting card to raise during vote counting. No ID is required, simply state your name and address and sign the voter roll. If your name isn't on the voter roll, you may attend the meeting but not vote on the agenda items.
The 2026 Annual Meeting is tentatively set for Fire Station 2, pending research on alternative locations (Makanda Village B.C. Ross Community Center or Giant City School cafeteria).
